My Life with the Saints
10th Anniversary Edition
by James Martin, SJ
Martin's funny, vibrant, and stirring book invites readers to discover how saints guide us throughout our earthly journeys and how they help each of us find holiness in our own lives.
In his modern classic memoir, Martin introduces us to saints throughout history—from St. Peter to Dorothy Day, St. Francis of Assisi to Mother Teresa - and chronicles his lifelong friendships with them.
"It is to Arrupe that I pray when seeking guidance for ministry among the poor, the marginalized, or the hopeless." --From the book
Martin is a Jesuit priest, author, and editor at large at America, the national Catholic magazine.
"You don't have to become Mother Teresa. You're already you. And within you in the seed for sanctity in your own life. You just have to let it flower in the soil that is your existence."
This year I have tried to be on a journey with the saints as a spiritual practice. It all started when I read through My Life With The Saints by Fr. James Martin.
I just don’t happen to have much of a spiritual sweet-tooth, and I find that most writing about the Saints is not to my taste. Fr. Martin’s book is therefore refreshing.

Institutional suffering often comes with being a mystic.
Martin draws us in, giving us stories from his own life that sound familiar to us, before plunging us into the intense lives of these remarkable role models.
