Shmini Atzeret

Shmini Atzeret is the holiday one day before it's more well-known cousin, Simchat Torah and marking the end of Sukkot. It literally means 'the eighth day of assembly" and has little ritual surrounding it. The requirement to eat in the sukkah is no longer in effect and traditionally, Jews begin to pray for rain at this point.
