Have you ever asked, “Is this all there is to life?” or wondered “Will life ever become easier?”  Perhaps you are not living life to its fullest potential. Like everything else, life has rules that are connected to Universal Wisdom. Playing by the rules can help you live a fulfilled life.

During a presentation at the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) I shared rules with the audience to help them live a more fulfilled life. I share the first part of that discussion here with you, now.

4 Rules To Help You Live a Fulfilled Life

  • Learn: Never stop learning. Why is learning so important? Studies show that 95% of people think that learning about new things boosts your confidence (National Adult Learning Survey, DfEE, 1998). Seven in ten adults (71%) think that learning can lead to a better quality of life (Attitudes to Learning, Campaign for Learning/MORI, 1996), and 93% of us believe that it’s never too late to learn.

Just as we should exercise our bodies to stay healthy and strong so must we exercise our minds to stay alert and sharp. Take the time to embrace something new every day. Like almost everything in life there are pros and cons to current technology because it is changing the way we learn and what we learn.  Make adjustments in your mode of learning.  Technology is the future. Embrace it. You might like it.

  • Adjust: Despite what many of us have been taught, the world is not built on “Survival of the Fittest.”  It is built by those who can adjust to change.  Change rules the future. Those who cannot adjust become extinct. Those who can adjust evolve. Legendary actor and martial artist Bruce Lee often speaks about the flexibility of water, and how everyone should strive to be like it. Water does not have any set shape.  It adjusts and conforms to its container.

History has shown that those who are too tied to the past are bound to be left in the past. Being able to adapt is difficult for most of us because we are creatures of habit. With that in mind, possessing the ability to adjust to change will give you an edge in all aspects of your life.

Napoleon won many battles by using his ability to break away from the past and adjust to the future.  Napoleon developed military strategies which were revolutionary for the time, and his enemies, who were stuck in the old military ways of doing things, quickly succumbed to his forces. Imagine ways you can break from your past, adjust to obstacles in the present and become victorious in your future.

One of the most difficult realities of life is that change is the only constant. Seasons change, people come and go and all that lives dies. The silver lining to change is; Sometimes, what is good lasts and what is hard ends quickly. Look for the silver lining and adjust to changes in life.

Watch for part 2 of 4 Rules for A Fulfilled Life -VLOG where we will discuss the last two rules.
