What kind of leader will you be?

20130915-085545.jpgAs I’ve been reading 1 Samuel lately, it seems to me that one of the purposes of the book is to put before us different examples of leadership. Some of these are definitely intended for us to emulate. Others are examples to show us how not to do it. We are all called to lead in one way or the other. Which of these models will we follow?

  1. Harsh and judgemental leadership (1 Samuel 1)
  2. Leadership that listens to God (1 Samuel 3)
  3. Leadership that seeks the presence of God (1 Samuel 7)
  4. Leadership that calls people to repentance (1 Samuel 7)
  5. Leadership that humbly recognises it is God who enabled all success. (1 Samuel 7)
  6. Leadership that sets a clear example of a way of life for others to follow (1 Samuel 8)
  7. Leadership that doesn’t always impose its own will (1 Samuel 8)
  8. Leadership that abuses and takes advantage of the people (1 Samuel 8)
  9. “Head and shoulders” leadership ie that towers over others (1 Samuel 9)
  10. Servant leadership that is after Gods own heart (1 Samuel 13:14)
