SERMON: The Trinity and You

This is the video of the sermon I preached this morning followed by a full set of notes.AudioHow do you tend to think of God? A Force or Power? A remote ruler? An angry judge? But the Bible reveals that God is intensely personal and he is very interested in you. HE wants to know you.  Part of getting to know someone is getting to know about someone. It is not enough to merely learn about them, but it is a helpful and necessary start. We must know why we believe what we believe and … [Read more...]

10 Ways a Christian should respond to the earthquake in Japan

As Japan braces itself for a possible further serious earthquake, and deals with the consequences of such massive devastation caused by the last one, not to mention the risk of a major nuclear incident, how should Christians respond? Please understand that none of this is intended to claim that we have all the answers to such a disaster. In fact, like Job's friends' initial response, often the best thing we can do is say absolutely nothing, and share people's pain.I write this article with … [Read more...]

GUEST POST – Straight to the heart of Revelation

The following post is an extract from Straight to the heart of Revelation:INTRODUCTION: GOD IS ON THE THRONE“And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’” (Revelation 7:10)The President of the United States rules from the Oval Office. He sits on a chair behind the impressive Resolute desk and in front of the carpeted Seal of the President. The whole room is designed, in the words of President Bartlet in the TV series ‘The Wes … [Read more...]

Liam Goligher Video Interview

Interview With Liam Goligher from Adrian Warnock on Vimeo. One of my favorite memories from this year's New Word Alive is meeting Liam Goligher. I am thrilled that this is the post I am sharing with you on my sixth blog anniversary (it was the 16th April 2003 when this journey began!)Liam and I have spoken on the phone before, and from the first call I immediately knew that he was a real defender of the gospel. Will Heaven Really Be A Place On Earth?

Many Christians simplistically believe that when we die we will "go to heaven to be with Jesus forever." The truth is that 1 Corinthians 15 and other Scriptures make clear that we will one day be reunited with our bodies. From Revelation 21 it is clear that the heavenly city will descend from the skies and remain on earth. God will dwell with us on the new earth. So it would almost seem that heaven itself will invade earth, and that in some way we will be in heaven and earth simultaneously. This … [Read more...]

A Church That Leaves You Hoarse

I wasn't the only one who found they had a hoarse voice when our service ended over at Jubilee, London last Sunday. As part of our worship we had a run of African-style songs, and as we sang, we began to relax a little and get a bit excited about our Lord Jesus. At the end of the planned sequence of songs something happened that has never occurred before. Spontaneously, worshippers began crying out, "MORE! MORE!" It was an amazing moment, and as some of the leaders joined in the calls, our … [Read more...]

SERMON – The Risen Jesus (Revelation 1)

This morning I preached a sermon at Jubilee. The following are almost exactly the notes I used to preach from. In the meantime you can download the audio or listen to it right here.Imagine Jesus . . .Baby Jesus—weakness, stooping down, becoming one of us, close to us. OR, Jesus on the cross; suffering the wrath of God for us. Closest description of Jesus did NOT look like the cross, or a “gentle Galilean peasant,” or the baby Jesus.Consider the scene . . .The aging John—an island prisoner who has … [Read more...]

Revelation 20:1-6

From Guest writer Glenn.Ahhh Dear John H,Good old Rev 20:1-6. To me it is not that unclear, but then I am a classical premill type of guy. So to me it reads as is. Jesus will come back at some point and reign on earth for a thousand years whilst the devil is constrained in the pit. At the end of the thousand years the devil will be let out and there will be one last rebellion, then curtains to the old creation and in with the new.Seems pretty straight forward to me, but then I like to keep … [Read more...]
