You can also download the slides. You can watch the recording herePlease send any questions via the comments here on Twitter with @adrianwarnock in the tweet. Although primarily aimed at church plants, the material will be of interest to … [Read more...]

The end of Movember

20121129-223501.jpg

The month of November is at an end. My upper lip is especially itchy today almost as if it is anticipating its return to freedom from fuzz! It's not too late for you to sponsor this work of art. It is in aid or help for male cancers and in memory of my Father-in-Law who died this past year. This time last year I did not know he was sick. Now he is with Jesus. The least I could do was grow a moustache for a month! … [Read more...]

Help iPhone 5 maps find your business or church

This post will encourage you to stop moaning about all the problems with iOS and iPhone 5 maps and instead start doing your bit to help fix Apple Maps and get your church or business listed so people can find you with their iPhone.Millions of people will soon have an iPhone 5. Millions more will upgrade to iOS 6 despite all the coverage about the deficiencies of Apple Maps. The vast majority will not know that there are ways to go on using Google maps (the easiest of which is to simply visit … [Read more...]

iPhone 5 Maps debacle may not be entirely Apple’s fault

In this post I will explain why in part I blame Google, TomTom and Yelp! Apple have a well-earned reputation for introducing things that "just work."   Unfortunately, there is no way of denying it, even for an Apple fan-boy,  this is not one of those occasions. There is no doubt that the Maps app is beautiful, and that it will surely improve, but at least today, as one writer puts it, the icing is great but there are serious issues about the cake!  Just to begin with, however, if you are wo … [Read more...]

Why one of the best things you can do on Twitter is point to other people

Today I discovered a tool that confirmed something I have long suspected. The virtual crowds of people who follow people on Twitter do not overlap as much as you might suspect. As a result one of the most helpful things you can do is help your followers find other people you enjoy reading. Don't assume that even if you have far fewer followers than your personal favourites, everyone following you must "surely" have already heard of them and decided to follow or not. One of my closest friends … [Read more...]

How to update to iOS 5 and iCloud with minimal hassle

First things first, apologies for this blog suddenly sounding like a tech blog.  But, Apple users like me are used to upgrades and the like being really simple.  This is true for the move to IOS 5 but only if you follow these steps and have the confidence to do so.  It will take a while (maybe more than two hours) but you will have time to do other things while you wait.  Also, this will be the last time you will need to tether your phone!Unlike most upgrades, however, this one will actually wi … [Read more...]

Apple's iCloud Music service iTunes in the cloud HAS Launced in the UK

For months, UK iTunes users have wondered if Apple's new service which allows you to re-download your purchased music to any device you own would launch in the UK.  Well, I can tell you that I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes here in London and it has now added this service to my Mac.  It doesn't work for films yet, and I hope it will at some point, but this is major news for anyone with a UK iTunes account.  Chances are you have bought stuff maybe even years ago and deleted it by ac … [Read more...]

What Makes Apple Apple?

It is sad that a true desire for excellence seems to be very rare today. We would do well to look at what we can learn from the most successful company of our era: Apple.  Here are some comparisons between the values Apple embodies, and those of  many companies today:  Be passionate Be rationalLead, don’t follow Be cautiousAim to surprise Aim to satisfyBe unreasonable Be practicalInnovate incessantly Innovate when necessarySweat the details Get it mostly rightThink lik … [Read more...]

Comments switched on after a break of over three years. Your chance to answer back

I am very grateful to God for the numbers of you that faithfully keep coming back to this blog and reading. Till now, unless you are on Twitter there has been no easy way to allow you a voice. Now that Facebook have introduced a new commenting system, I have decided to trial this for a while and see how it goes. One thing I like about this system is that commentators are risking their online Facebook reputation by what they say, and as a result I trust will be wise in what they say. The … [Read more...]

Using Technology to serve your church – Mark Driscoll and Jeff Vanderstelt

I plan on blogging about some of the tech tools that can help churches. To begin, I thought I would share this video from The City which is an interview with two pastors on how tech has helped them. It is a long flowing conversation, and should give you a good idea of how things like The City can help. … [Read more...]
