Tope Koleoso interview and your invitation to the Autumn 300 Conference

This autumn we are running another 300 conference here in Enfield, London. If you have been reading this blog for a while, you will have seen me speak of my love for my home church. I joined Jubilee back in 1995, and for the first 10 years we experienced the challenges of being a slow growing church plant. They were good years, and years when deep friendships were formed within an emerging leadership team. We learnt a lot together, but although we did hold onto promises from God, we would not … [Read more...]

Tope Koleoso on corporate prayer

Yesterday I spoke about how Terry Virgo and Tope Koleoso are both great at promoting books. Today I want to highlight another aspect that they both in my view stand out in, and it is one that is even more important. This is their commitment to prayer, and corporate prayer in particular. Prayer is vital to the Christian and in this short video shared by my friend Bryan Mowrey Tope explains why.At the beginning of the year we captured Tope praying in public at Jubilee, and unusually decided … [Read more...]

Jesus is better

When a pastor tells you that a certain passage of Scripture has been one of the most influential on his life, and is among the most precious to him you take notice. When he says that it is a passage he thinks about, or makes reference to almost every week your ears should prick up. When he then spends just a few minutes explaining why that is so it is well worth watching. This excerpt from Jubilee's service last Sunday is Tope Koleoso introducing communion and explaining why only one thing is … [Read more...]

How to Sell 100 Books in 10 Minutes

Raised With Christ was launched at Jubilee Church this past Sunday. The people were incredibly gracious in their response, and much to my surprise we sold all 100 available copies in just 10 minutes. I am sure some of that was due to the love of this wonderful family of God for me as one of its members.  But Tope's endorsement of the book was really very nicely done. If you are a pastor with a specific book to promote, you would do well to follow this example. In the video my lovely wife … [Read more...]

Getting Back To The Book Of Acts

Tope Koleoso preached the following sermon entitled "A Call to Evangelism" yesterday. It marks the start of a new series at Jubilee that you can follow on our sermons page.If you have ever thought that the book of Acts must be more than just a story of the beginning of the Church, then this will be a good series for you to watch or listen to. We believe that this book is something of a model of what churches should aim to be like. Here are a few quotes from the sermon:Matt Chandler has … [Read more...]

Pray Your Way Into The Busyness Of Twenty-ten

Tope Koleoso preached this last Sunday on entering the New Year purposefully and with prayer. We are beginning the year with a week of prayer and fasting at church, so I have asked a guest blogger to join us here later in the week after I have shared a sermon I have set on auto-publish for tomorrow.Tope is passionate about inspiring Jubilee to be a church that is continually more devoted to prayer. At the beginning of this recording he prays a blessing on us as a church. Why not pray along … [Read more...]

A Call To Pray For Matt Chandler

Tope recorded this video, posted on the Jubilee Church Facebook page to call our church to pray for Matt Chandler. I thought it might help some of my readers consider how to pray for his surgery tomorrow. … [Read more...]

Don't You Dare Try and Worship God With Your Hands In Your Pockets!

My pastor, Tope Koleoso did not say the words in the title of this post. But they are very consistent with the tone and thrust of the following sermon on worship which follows on from what he said last week. I would strongly encourage you to watch both of these talks as you will find they have a fresh and challenging perspective on worship. The video is available in HD at http://jubilee-church.org In response to what we have been hearing about worship, this coming Sunday will be a special … [Read more...]

Worship His Majesty!

It seems to me that us reformed believers run the risk that we recognize God is holy, but it can feel as though he is distant. To us charismatics God may instead feel close, but perhaps not seem glorious. Reformed believers understand something of the sovereignty of God, and his glory. All too often, however, we fall into the trap of worshipping a remote God who is not really immanent. As a result God is essentially nowhere to be seen, felt, or experienced. Charismatics often enjoy a sense of … [Read more...]

Rebuilding Marriages – Following the Manual

This sermon is a real treat to watch. So much Christian teaching on marriage is based purely on human wisdom, and amounts to repacked psychological insights. Actually, I have no problem with us learning from such thoughts--since after all if Proverbs tells us to learn from the ants, we can with discernment learn from anywhere. BUT, we must first get our foundations right before we learn the superficial principles. As such, I commend this sermon from my friend and pastor, Tope Koleoso. In it … [Read more...]
