Worship His Majesty!

It seems to me that us reformed believers run the risk that we recognize God is holy, but it can feel as though he is distant. To us charismatics God may instead feel close, but perhaps not seem glorious. Reformed believers understand something of the sovereignty of God, and his glory. All too often, however, we fall into the trap of worshipping a remote God who is not really immanent. As a result God is essentially nowhere to be seen, felt, or experienced. Charismatics often enjoy a sense of … [Read more...]

Rebuilding Marriages – Following the Manual

This sermon is a real treat to watch. So much Christian teaching on marriage is based purely on human wisdom, and amounts to repacked psychological insights. Actually, I have no problem with us learning from such thoughts--since after all if Proverbs tells us to learn from the ants, we can with discernment learn from anywhere. BUT, we must first get our foundations right before we learn the superficial principles. As such, I commend this sermon from my friend and pastor, Tope Koleoso. In it … [Read more...]

Prayer Praise and Persistance – A Sermon

Well, actually due to time constraints this mainly focused on prayer. Prayer is VITAL, and I am realising that my own prayer life is only scraping the surface.Last Sunday Tope Koleoso, the pastor of Jubilee Church London, preached this, his first sermon back after a four week break over the summer. He didn't totally rest over the summer, having gone to Zimbabwe on a preaching trip. He was provoked by that trip, and really let rip in his preaching to us as a result. If you have ever watched … [Read more...]

Tope Tweets From Africa

My pastor has been on a ministry trip, here is his report, sent from the airport lounge and posted on the Jubilee Church news page.:The Zim conference was a success I believe. I am grateful and humbled. I preached 8 sermons in 3 days to A.O.G leaders.I preached Jesus again and again and again until they could see that - it's all about Jesus. It always was. It always will be. I challenged them to stop playing games with Gods Word when preaching. If it's not about Jesus, it's your gospel not His … [Read more...]

It’s All About Jesus

To our delight at Jubilee a few years ago a few different people who were visiting commented about our church, that it seemed to them to be "all about Jesus" rather than some other things church could be about. There is a song we have sung many times over the years that expresses the same idea "It's All About You, Jesus". So, when the leadership team couldn't seem to find a fancy "mission statement" for the church, it was decided we would simply use the phrase "It's all about Jesus" wherever … [Read more...]

Jubilee Prayer Meeting – A visitor's view

It was a delight for us to have two sets of visitors from two different continents at Jubilee this past weekend. Andrew Fountain from New Life Church Toronto was one of them. He has posted a report on his time with us, which included the following view of our prayer meeting. The first 20 mins were a time for coffee and fellowship and as more and more people arrived I wondered how we were going to fit into the meeting hall. (I counted over a hundred—more people than chairs.)We began with Tope K … [Read more...]

Why I Shout When I Preach – Tope Koleoso

My pastor Tope Koleoso now has a Twitter page which has some fantastic things on it, including some quotes about preaching from my Liam Goligher interview. During the rest of my blog break keep an eye on Tope's Twitter page. You may also want to follow the new Jubilee Church news/blog page and the Jubilee Church Vimeo Channel, or if you prefer the Youtube Jubilee Church page. I just couldn't resist another interuption to my break to share with you the following article Tope recently … [Read more...]

God's Compassionate Heart – A Sermon On Jonah

Tope Koleoso preached an outstanding sermon last Sunday on the subject of God's compassion. The challenge he gave us to share this compassion of God made the book of Jonah come to life in a fresh way. You can download the audio or video or watch it right here: … [Read more...]

Video – Tope Koleoso On Alcohol And Other Dilemmas

Following on just a couple of weeks from his sermon on sex, Tope preached on another controversial matter. This is a subject where many Christians take very different views from each other.   I think that whether you agree with Tope or not you will, find the sermon of great  interest. If nothing else it is very funny as he describes the difference between African and English Christians on this issue. He also talks about other issues of conscience basing his talk from 1 Corinthians 8.  Should Ch … [Read more...]
