Being grateful is good for you. 'What are you greatful for?' asks mamamusingsWhere to start? Thank you God for my lovely wife Andrée Warnock (who was born Andrée Hamer) who puts up with far more than any woman should have to, and who is the best person I have met in the whole world. Also, for four wonderful kids who love me to death and make me so proud (Henry singing at the church party and Joel shuffling along the furniture both did me in!!For extended family, for friends- esp Ant who I … [Read more...]

An important day?

Although both Tamasin and Henry have both said sorry to Jesus for their sins before, tonight was slightly different. I asked Tamasin what you had to do to become a Christian. She answered that you had to thank Jesus for taking the blame for us, and say sorry to him for all your lies. I said that it wasn't just lies, but all naughty things, and she agreed. I then said you needed to ask Jesus to be the boss of your life- to be in charge. She said, but I haven't done that and immediately she … [Read more...]

Tamasin awaits….

One of the delightful things about children is their inability to wait. My 6 year old knows that Christmas is less than a month away and is thrilled. She also keeps asking me 'Did you win dad?' and can't seem to understand the delay in deciding who is going to be the king of blogs.I think she needs her own blog one day- but maybe I will make her a guest blogger here. Some of my most profound thoughts come from her or Henry anyway.Like this question 'Dad, why does this year seem to be going faster … [Read more...]

All you need is love….

All obedience begins in the affections, and nothing in religion is done right, that is not done there first. (Matthew Henry on Mt 22:39-40 - the greatest commandment)We are separated by some period of time from Matthew Henry I fear that we no longer understand what he meant by affection. You see love biblically is not simply a wishy washy feeling.Jonathon Edwards who was of the same era as Matthew Henry said of the affections that they were "the faculty by which the soul does not behold … [Read more...]

Blogging for the children

Euan at The Obvious?? states : "my reason for trying to give The Obvious? a positive outlook is not so much that I am trying to hide any negative feelings from myself or from those who read me as trying to counter the overwhelmingly negative tone of so much of what we read, hear and see in the media. I remember clearly, when I started writing my blog, feeling that I wanted to do my bit to make the internet the sort of place I woulkd want my kids to grow up in."I guess I also blog at least in … [Read more...]

Blogging from my hotel

After being in three different European countries in two days its great t be able to blog from the comfort of my hotel room. I was lucky enough to be delayed at Heathrow the other day so that in fact from my waiting lounge window I got a perfect view of the last three commercial landings of concorde. This made me think of several things. 1stly life is about being in the right place at the right time and mostly that is about luck. 2nd despite the first point those who suceed in life are those … [Read more...]
