Greetings, and welcome back to Wyrd Words. Keeping the Thor in Thursdays, every other week here on Agora! A recent article by Dagulf Loptson called “What is Heathenry Missing?” addressed a topic I’ve been hearing a lot recently in online Heathen circles. Dagulf expressed a common complaint that Heathenry lacks any kind of unbroken chain of tradition. He [Read More...]

Wyrd Words: Odin’s Greatest Enemy, Depression in a Heathen Context

Greetings, and welcome back to Wyrd Words. Keeping the Thor in Thursdays, every other week here on Agora!   I love this community. I love the open tolerance of the broader Pagan umbrella as well as the well-grounded strength and practicality of Heathenry. There’s a reason I’m a still Heathen. Happily Heathen: A Simple Blot for Freyr

Freyr riding his boar with a staff while Freya sits with cats

As we are in the middle of the harvest-related holidays and are getting ready for winter, it seemed a great time to finally sit down and write a simple ritual for Freyr. Freyr is a great God who is often honored at several autumnal holidays, such as Frexfaxi, Winternights, and Yule, but I have not come across a good, year-round ritual that can be used to honor him. He’s a great God and he really deserves a lot more press than he currently gets. (Though since as he is one of my patrons, I’ll admit I’m a bit biased). [Read more...]
