Happily Heathen: Offerings For The Gods – Part One – The Vanir

As a practicing Heathen, a key cornerstone of my spiritual practice is the offering of gifts. The Havamal has a lot to say about gift giving and fostering reciprocal relationships. Though in the Havamal Odin focuses more on building relationships between humans, I think the same advice can be applied equally well to our relationships with the Gods. [Read more...]

A recent article by Dagulf Loptson called “What is Heathenry Missing?” addressed a topic I’ve been hearing a lot recently in online Heathen circles. Clergy work comes in all forms. Sometimes it entails emotional one-on-one work with a member of one’s congregation; sometimes it involves ecstatic trancework with one’s deity; sometimes it just means physically tidying up after an event. Here’s an example of a time when clergy work turned in to me asking, “Can I take a message?” [Read more...]

Eventually I realized that, in my experience, giving thanks for abundance of all kinds falls squarely in Njord’s territory. So in honor of Thanksgiving, I present a prayer of thanks for Njord and HIs children. [Read more...]
