A Tapestry of Witches: A History of the Craft in America, Volume I is now available on Amazon

It was not easy figuring out how to write this book. The chronological structure (the warp) describes the evolution of the family tree of covens, Traditions, and lineages, as they bifurcated, mutated, and merged. The weft, as it were, describes the lateral movement, in the formation of regional associations of various sorts, Finally, there is the overlay of the web of friendships between those who have known each other for decades. All that is why I have called it a tapestry. [Read more…]

Of Breasts (Redux) and the Foundations of Ethics

My previous blog elicited more negative than positive comments. Allowing for the fact that one commenter is a troll and will simply be ignored, most of the rest advanced serious objections that merit reply. Please be aware that my thoughts here are within a larger trajectory of wondering why almost all the modern world suffers [Read More…]

Retrieving the Myth of Jesus and Sophia, Part II

Understanding what the actual theology of the classical Gnostics was about depends on understanding what they meant by the Greek term “Paston,” usually translated as “bridal chamber.” In context the term meant a type of experience, not to a physical location, so it is better translated as “sacred marriage,” a term whose connotations are much [Read More…]

The United States Has Always Been a Pagan, Socialist Nation, Part II

In Part One I presented an argument that the USA began as a socialist nation. There are already a few people screaming that we are NOT a Socialist nation. No, that’s not what I said. I am using “socialist” in the classic Enlightenment sense, meaning a society that is governed for the benefit of all its people, not for the benefit of any minority. On the Nature of Gender

What set this blog off was my weeping with joy for Cassidy Campbell. Seeing how beautiful Cassidy is, I thought to look at some of the online transgender groups. Seeing all these exquisite teenagers, whether they call themselves boys or girls, I could weep, knowing what hell they must have survived, and rejoice for their [Read More…]

In Memory of Allan Lowe / Demian Moonbloode

Artemisia phoned me yesterday morning to let me know that Allan had passed over, because, she said, I was one of the rather few people he considered a friend and had asked her to call. Since his health had been declining for years, this was not a surprise, but it was nevertheless sad. Allan had [Read More…]
