A Report on Life and Writing

I’m 73, and have been writing since about age ten. I live in Tacoma with my wife, Melinda, and our three children: Evan is 19; Chloe is 14; and Isibella will be 12 on June 28. Thanks to modern technology, I now have four books available for sale.  I have always been fascinated by fragmentary [Read More...]

What If Witches Are the Genuine Christians? — Goddess Murder II

I had completed much more writing linked to my Goddess Murder project, and it was not obvious what to do with it. I experimented with doing a sequel or a prequel or . . . but the protagonist/narrator needed to rewrite his earlier effort in order to deal with new information he became privy to [Read More...]

Blindsided by a Rabbit, Again

Just finished Paulo Coelho’s Eleven Minutes. Every one of his books is like seeing through a tear in the fabric of reality, into another world, a world redeemed by enlightenment. Wish I could figure out how he does that. The best of all so far is his next novel, The Zahir. It cannot be explained [Read More...]

About Writing Witchy History

It ain’t easy. Given that I began saving Green Egg and the other dozen  periodicals we got as exchange subscriptions for The Witches Trine, I began gathering materials for A Tapestry of Witches more than 40 years ago. About ten years later, I began compiling entries about covens and other groups that had announced their [Read More...]

A Tapestry of Witches: A History of the Craft in America, Volume I is now available on Amazon

tapestryofwitches

It was not easy figuring out how to write this book. The chronological structure (the warp) describes the evolution of the family tree of covens, Traditions, and lineages, as they bifurcated, mutated, and merged. The weft, as it were, describes the lateral movement, in the formation of regional associations of various sorts, Finally, there is the overlay of the web of friendships between those who have known each other for decades. All that is why I have called it a tapestry. [Read more...]

Why Is Sex a Problem at All? The Poison of Puritanism

Why don’t human beings just have sex whenever they feel like it—which is usually—just for the pleasure of it? (It is Sunday morning. I did not listen to a sermon. As you can see, I instead wrote one—or, at least, a Pagan equivalent.) [Read more...]

Goddess Murder, 26: The Sermon to the Prostitutes

XXVIII. The Sermon to the Prostitutes  As Aradia was speaking, a young woman in the crowd, a prostitute named Diana, pushed her way forward, wearing only a linen cloth about her body. The other women tried to hold her back; but she left the linen cloth in their hands and came to Aradia naked. Aradia [Read More...]

Autobiography by Email: More from Demian Allan Moonbloode

I have been a wytch since I was 14 years old. I was searching for the wytches I saw in the magazine [Look] in the early 70s. Through Seph I found them in 1974 at the Yule Sabbat, [and] by the end of 1975, I was in Isis Rising, where I was initiated as a White Cord. [Read more...]

On My Love for Sophia, Our Lady of Wisdom and Mercy

It is common to suppose that knowledge is not wisdom, but just what is the difference between them? Mapping knowledge is easy enough: mathematics, science, humanities, social studies (they should be scholarly, but they are not sciences), then dividing them into categories, subcategories, and so on, down to a subncategory small enough that one can [Read More...]

On Gnosticism, the Book of Shadows, and Sex

I received a few days ago my monthly statistical report from Patheos on how many hits I received last month, total, per day, per blog, etc. It was interesting to see that the greatest number of hits were on two blogs: “On Jesus as a Gnostic” and “Some New Pages for the Book of Shadows.” [Read more...]
