What Your Home Says About You

What Your Home Says About You May 18, 2018

When we’re choosing a home to buy or rent, there are lots of factors that influence our decision. The cost and location, of course. But our personal likes and dislikes, whether we feel a sense of attachment, also come into it. The same goes for inside your property. How it looks and feels says a lot about you and the kind of character you are.

First impressions

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. But the exterior of your home, including the garden, can give a lot away about the kind of person or family you are. Is your property in excellent condition, giving off a glowing feeling? Is the backyard and all the plants looking perfect? Walking up to it for the first time, people are sure to think that the owner is someone who cares, who looks after their belongings – and takes pride appearance.

On the other side of the coin, if you’re house looked like it was falling apart and your garden overgrown, you may give off the impression that you don’t care, or you just haven’t gotten around to doing any of the maintenance work necessary. So, if you want to make a positive impact in your community, you need to give the exterior of your home lots of tender loving care.

Your choice of home and its location will also add to the impressions you are making on people when they visit you. If you’re looking for a new property, check out Rancho Bernardo Homes.

Your furnishings

When it comes to home interiors, what do you go for? Do you like clean, modern lines? Or are you more of a lover of antiques and fine art sculptures? The way you furnish your property also says a lot about the kind of person you are. The age and size of the furniture, the colors, they’re all things that reflect your personal tastes.

The way you arrange your furnishings also reveal a lot too. If you have a home that is full of items, then you may give off the impression that you are a bit of a hoarder. While if you have a minimalistic approach, it could give the idea that you are a clutter-free type person.

Clean and tidy?

One of the other things people notice when they come to your home for the first time is how clean and tidy it is. If you have lots of papers on the floor, dirty plates and cups in the kitchen and a horrible smell lingering around, then it’s not going to make the best impression. It will give the impression that you are a messy person, maybe lazy and chaotic too.

Whereas if you have a home that is garbage free and smelling like fresh flowers, you’re going to create an atmosphere that is much warmer and welcoming – and a sense that you care about your home and are in control.

You don’t have to spend hours every day cleaning but keeping on top of the chores will help keep your property in order. Remember, they always say ‘tidy house, tidy mind.’
