Interview with Writer/Producer Kamran Pasha

Kamran Pasha

Recently, I watched the Showtime Series “Sleeper Cell” which aired for 2 seasons from 2005 – 2006. Although the TV show is almost 10 years old now, its subject matter of terrorism in relation to American Muslims is still very relevant today. When “Sleeper Cell” came out, there was a lot of push back from the Muslim community in America, most of which occurred before the series even aired. Although the cable TV series does have its flaws, I believe it did have a lot of in-depth analysis of the int … [Read more...]

NCIS: A Case Study on US Military Propaganda

No Comment. It's Obvious.

Usually I don’t watch the CBS program “NCIS” (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) because I don’t like being bombarded by blatant propaganda which promotes US & Israeli Military aggression (see the image to the left and tell me if I’m wrong), but I happened to see some trailer’s for the new season’s first episode called “Kill Chain” and it peaked my interest. The 11th season opens with a US Navy Petty officer being killed; by get this, a US Drone! Now usually, as most of the whole world kno … [Read more...]

The Aftermath: 12 years later

12 years ago, my friend Javaid Malik and I started on this documentary video called, "The Aftermath: American-Muslims After September 11th." Review of 2012 Golden Globe Winner (and Emmy) for TV Drama: “Homeland”

ClaireDanes

Recently, I watched the whole first season of the Golden Globe Winning TV series Drama, “Homeland” and was both impressed and also disappointed. The cable series which originally premiered in October 2011 on the Showtime channel is based on an Israeli TV series called “Prisoners of War,” But “Homeland” is about an American Marine Nicholas Brody (played by British Actor Damian Lewis from “Band of Brothers”) who is captured in Iraq and his held captive for 8 years, only to be found by a Delta Force … [Read more...]

Three Cups of Tea

Greg Mortenson with the children of Korphe in Pakistan

I recently finished reading "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin.  My first reaction after reading the story of Mortenson's 15 + year story of building schools for the impoverished children of Pakistan and eventually Afghanistan's mountain villages was - why do the Non-Muslims do Allah's work without making any excuses, but we Muslims just argue, cheat and fight amongst ourselves?! For those who don't know Mortenson's story - he was a mountain climber who in 1993 after a … [Read more...]
