6.  It helps us to keep our marriage a top priority.

A marriage is strongest when a couple keeps God first, their marriage second, their kids third, and then everyone and everything else comes after that.  When we continuously prioritize our relationships in this way, we will have a much healthier marriage and home life.  And, asking for one another’s permission before making decisions is one way that we can consistently keep our marriage a top priority.  When we choose not to check with one another FIRST, we allow other relationships to take center stage and ultimately hurt our spouse and marriage in the process.
