The Daily Sky: Astrology For January 16-22, 2017 January 15, 2017

matthew currie astrology daily skyThere are two major aspects happening this week that will have a powerful effect on your human relations, and whether you need to get something good and sweet into your life or just need to amputate something that’s infected, you’ll have help from the planets.

Of course: knowing what to keep and what to cut is always the trick, isn’t it?

On Thursday, Mars square Saturn is arguably the toughest of all aspects to deal with. The square aspect indicates that two planets are in conflict, with little room for compromise or agreement. Mars is the urge to progress (even if it means someone or something gets blown up), and Saturn is the urge to maintain order (even if it means the old “iron fist” approach).

On Friday (and more or less at the same time as Mars square Saturn), Venus sextile Pluto provides an opportunity for softness and affection — but not the weak-kneed kind. Venus is famously the Goddess of Love, and Pluto is in charge of the underworld. The sextile implies agreement and co-operation. Now: imagine what you could achieve when Love and The Ultimate join forces?

As always: how this plays out is entirely in your hands. But I have to admit, this week seems more loaded with potential for wonder and horror than most. It depends on whether we’re willing to listen to the better angels of our natures or not… and whether we have the strength to follow through on it despite the peril.

Oh, and on (I swear) a completely unrelated note: Happy Inauguration Day, America.
