Bible News Radio is Happy To Be Back! March 16, 2017

BNR_Logo It has been quite some time since I’ve been here in my Patheos blog and that’s because I’ve been going through a lot of changes in my life. I’m happy to be back blogging on this awesome platform and I hope to get to know many more of you!

If you’re new to Bible News Radio and what we do, I thought it would be good to reintroduce myself. I am Stacy Lynn Harp, your sweet and lovable host of Bible News Radio. Yes, “sweet and lovable” was how my listeners labeled me and I thought, “Why not, use and promote what others are saying” after all Proverbs 27:2 says, “Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips”. I appreciate the compliment and even more I appreciate those who take the time to tune in and who share with me their views on the world and life.

So what is Bible News Radio and who am I besides sweet and lovable? Well, way back in 2005 when blogging was starting out, I came up with the idea that Christians could use blogs to promote Christian books. In fact, I was the original owner of the url BlogforBooks.com and I held that url for almost a decade. It was around May of 2005 that I went to a National Religious Broadcasters Convention and pitched the idea to Crossway Publishers, Baker House Publishers and others that if they were willing to have bloggers review their books in exchange for a free book, then I would set up those bloggers and make sure that they received good reviews. I’m happy to say that all of these years later the blogger programs that are set up with most publishers these days is going strong and I have the joy of knowing it was a God-given idea that I had that has produced much fruit.

Since I was in the business of doing these reviews I decided that I would take the time to also start a podcast and interview the authors of the books that I was being given. In fact, Frank Turek, a great Christian apologist and author, was my first interview. I had the blessing of talking to Frank about his book I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist.

Over the years as I have become more experienced at doing interviews and podcasting, it has been my joy to interview well over a thousand people by now. I’ve had some of the biggest names in Christian media on my show and even some of the biggest names in the world at times. Amy Grant was my first A-list guest and then I had one after another. Some of my favorite guests have been Dr. Ben Carson, Gavin MacLeod, Miss Kay Robertson, Dr. Robert Jeffress, Nagmeh Abedini, David and Jason Benham, Jim Daly, Chris Fabry, June Hunt, Twila Paris, John Kasich, Nonie Darwish, Miriam Ibrahim, Mark Hitchcock, Derek Gilbert, Jamie Grace and many others that I don’t have the time to list. I see every guest as an A-List guest and I am so blessed to be able to share the messages of hope, instruction, exhortation and love with our audience.

My educational background is as a clinically trained marriage and family therapist. I earned a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University of Southern California in 2005 and I spent a decade doing therapy with clients. I’ve seen the amazing resilience of my clients and I’ve seen the healing power of Christ so many times that all I can do is praise God for what He does.

It has been my joy being able to use my education and combine that experience and knowledge with the Bible. At heart, I am a bible teacher and I believe in making disciples and that is what Bible News Radio does. I’ve been influenced by numerous broadcasters including the late Rich Buhler who I first heard as a new Christian. At the time Rich was hosting his popular show, Talk from the Heart on KBRT. Then I listened to The Bible Answer Man, Stand to Reason with Greg Koukl, the teachings of Messianic Jewish scholar Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum and Kay Arthur from Precept Ministries International. I was also deeply impacted and influenced by my favorite radio broadcaster Janet Parshall who is currently with Moody Radio. In fact, I credit Janet’s show and the influence of her husband Craig Parshall, who is an amazing attorney and author, for the biggest impact in my life as a broadcaster.

I am a Christian who takes the Bible very seriously and I care passionately about biblical literacy. I often weep at the lack of biblical discernment in the church and yet at the same time I rejoice for I know that there is a remnant that is standing firm and dying for the faith I hold.

I would also like to share that I had the blessing of being the first Editor for the Voice of the Martyrs Persecution Blog and I held that position for almost eight years. Writing that blog on a daily basis gave me a deep love and understanding of the body of Christ worldwide. I see the reality of Christian persecution and I can see how it will come to America as a greater threat. I believe it is one area that most pastors ignore and my hope is that there will be an awakening there.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t share about my wonderful husband, Randall, who I lovingly refer to as Bearface (it’s not his real name). My listeners hear me say that all the time. This August I will be married to this most wonderful godly man for twenty five years. He has walked with me through a very hard journey at times and he has grown to be more godly and mature that I could’ve ever dreamed. Together we’ve had to grieve the loss of not being able to have our own biological children because I wasn’t able to carry a child and together we’ve dealt with the grief of cancer and early death for both of our mothers. Currently we are supporting our fathers who are dealing with their health challenges, including cancer, dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

Most importantly, my husband Randall is the foundation of what I do. In fact, I couldn’t do what I do without him. He makes me a better person, a better communicator, a better broadcaster and a better teacher. I hope you get an opportunity to tune in to Bible News Radio and hear him for yourself.

For now, I will close by inviting you to visit our daily broadcast over on Periscope. We host two live programs a day and would love to get to know you. I will be updating this blog with thoughts and commentary on what we cover on our show and I hope you join us in the journey. Feel free to visit my main website (which sadly has been hacked but you can still see it) http://www.biblenewsradio.com and sign up for my email. Make sure you also follow us here on Patheos and sign up to get our blog posts sent to you.

I truly appreciate each and every one of you. God loves you. He made you for His glory and I want you to remember to Be Bold, Stand Up and Go with God, because He loves you.

Stacy Lynn
