The Sad Rise of Anti-Semitism within the Church

The Sad Rise of Anti-Semitism within the Church June 30, 2015

Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 8.59.05 PM Today my guest on Bible News Radio was Laurie Cardoza-Moore who is the Founder and President of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations.  PJTN is a Christian pro-Israel organization that is dedicated to using the media to educate Christians concerning their biblical responsibility to support Israel and the Jewish brethren.

Laurie discussed with us a little bit about her background coming out of the Catholic Church and then becoming a Christian who learned about the Hebrew roots of her faith.  She shared about her time in numerous bible studies that helped to educate her about the role and importance of Israel and how she received the passion she does to stand with Israel.

Sadly, there is a move now within many churches, which claim to be Christian, where those churches and their leaders are standing against Israel.  The move is to boycott, divest and sanction the state of Israel and the Jewish people.  To put it bluntly, it’s antisemitism and America is leading the way.

Just today a story broke about the United Church of Christ which just approved divestment to aid Palestinians, and sadly, not only is it the United Church of Christ, but also the Mennonite Church USA and also the Episcopal Church are discussing taking up divestment’s against Israel.  See also here.

Laurie also informed our listeners about how popular leaders like Mart Green, President of Hobby Lobby is funding conferences and movies that are anti-Israel.  From the Proclaiming Justice to the Nations website we read:

A leading evangelical businessman has financed a controversial Middle East documentary that has been called “unfair and dishonest” by supporters of Israel.

“Little Town of Bethlehem” purports to present the Palestinian perspective for American audiences.

Mart Green, founder and CEO of Mardel Christian and Educational Supply and an heir to the Hobby Lobby retail empire, is the financial backing behind the Bethlehem film. It’s directed by Jim Hanon of EthnoGraphic Media Films, which is also financed by Green and headquartered at the huge Hobby Lobby complex in Oklahoma City.

Other popular church leaders who are undermining Israel and promoting antisemitism are Bill and Lynne Hybels , Gary Burge a professor at Wheaton College , and Tony Campolo.  Laurie also shared with us that at Oral Roberts University there are now professors who are pro-Israel who are afraid to speak out in support of Israel, since Mart Green bought ORU recently.

As for me and my house, we will obey Psalm 122:6 and pray for the peace of Jerusalem and watch and pray for Israel during these end times.  We know from the holy Word of God that the nations must rise up against Israel in order for the Messiah to come and rescue her.  My hope and prayer is that you, dear reader, are on the right side of history and not one poking his finger at the apple of God’s eye.
