The Olympic Games of World Religions

The Olympic Games of World Religions October 10, 2015

It has been 22 years since the Parliament of the World’s Religions was held in the United States. It has never been held in Utah. Next week (October 15-19) 10,000 people representing 80 nations and 50 different religious traditions will converge on Salt Lake City for one of the largest, if not the largest, religious and interfaith conferences in the world. It will be held at the Salt Palace. My observation up to this point is that many Utahns are generally unaware of this significant event. The first parliament was held in Chicago in 1893. Every conceivable religion in America was invited–except the Mormons. We were slighted. As the only major religion to rise out of American soil it is amazing that we weren’t invited to the party. Now, 122 years later, the parliament that rejected Mormons will now convene in the city of the Mormons. I’m going. Spread the word.
