    Words of Wisdom for Divorcing Parents

    Years ago, Minnesota Judge Michael Haas gave some blunt advice to divorcing parents in his courtroom:

    “Your children have come into this world because of the two of you. Perhaps you two made lousy choices as to whom you decided to be the other parent. If so, that is your problem and your fault. No matter what you think of the other party — or what your family thinks of the other party — these children are one half of each of you.

    “Remember that — because every time you tell your child what an `idiot’ his father is, or what a `fool’ his mother is, or how bad the absent parent is, or what terrible things that person has done, you are telling the child that half of him is bad.

    “That is an unforgivable thing to do to a child. That is not love. That is possession. If you do that to your children, you will destroy them as surely as if you had cut them into pieces, because that is what you are doing to their emotions.”

    Judge Haas retired in December 2002 after 26 years of service as a Judge in Cass County, Minnesota. Judge Haas’ words have been quoted in an Ann Landers article, appellate opinions and countless attorney webpages, blogs, websites, and law journals. Yet this simple message remains sage advice for parents before, during, and after the divorce process.

    Divorcing parents need to remember that their actions and words deeply affect the little people in their lives. Likewise, divorce attorneys need to remember that they are dealing with people’s lives and children and that their actions can last longer than the term of representation.

            You know liberty hell’s not so bad. There’s free wifi, the sushi is decent. But there’s only one tv channel and the only thing they play is “Life’s a Tripp”. So yeah it kinda sucks but I don’t visit too often…daddy issues .

We need people who will rid Washington of the corrupt politicians Sarah did that in Alaska when she was Governor she sent people from her own party to jail . She is not well liked in the repub.est. because of that. both the repubs. democrats know if she would become Pres. their little racket would be over she would be for the people and not for their little crony friends most of them would be wearing red jumpsuits. we need people like Sarah .     Bristol and Sarah’s great friend Rush Limbaugh had this to say on his radio show this week: “When women got the right to vote is when it all went downhill. Because that’s when votes started being cast with emotion and maternal instinct that government ought to reflect.” I can’t wait to see Bristol’s next blog post calling him out on this.

    Bristol! I love your show and watch it with my daughter who’s involved in local politics. I’m so grateful for you and your family for giving America access to your lives. You’ve bravely opened yourselves up to heartless attacks, but at least we can consider the source. There’re so many people who are tormented by their own failures so they take it out on others. Thank you for being such a good sport. We will continue to watch “Life’s A Tripp” and enjoy having a backstage pass into your world. Watching the CPAC from your perspective was such a treat because I was watching it streaming online. The way your mother interacting with the audience after the speech was electric. I support your mother and thoroughly believe she will be our next president. She is by far the most liked of all the candidates and she’s going to bring a Reagan conservatism to our country. More than that, she’s a proven reformer and you have all been thoroughly tested by the brutal media and come through better than ever. Godspeed to you and your beautiful son! (And the fine young man who appears to love both of you very much!)

    We saw the movie The Patroit (Mel Gibson) It reminded us that so many suffered & sacrificed so much for the independence of the nation. We appreciate those who volunteered to protect our country today. Happy Birthday America from today’s patriots

      Not to disagree to much, but The Patriot was Mel Gibson’s way of pointing out how much someone raised in Australia dislikes the British. Half of the stuff depicted by him that the British Army was said to have done (such as burning a whole community alive in a locked up church) never happened.

I think it is very ridiculous how everyone bashes you and your family about things and that they don’t realize that they need to just keep their ridiculous comments and thoughts to themselves. You are doing a great job as a mother and I do truly love watching you and Tripp weekly!

      You realize that the Palins, by choice, have made themselves public figures, correct? I believe that was the point behind all these reality shows they insist on participating in. That, and a fat payday. All of which leaves them open to criticism from anyone who wants to put forth an opinion.

      Havent you ever watched a reality show for the sole purpose of cringing at the craven antics of the people involved? I suspect a lot of people follow the Palin Brand ™ for precisely the same reason. Glad I could help.

    Unless of course you were black before January 11, 1864 or a woman before August 26th, 1920. Or a homosexual today. That’s how logic works around here right?

      Real slavery, harassment and vilification of homosexuals, and brutal oppression of women exists TODAY in much of Africa. Do the world some good chris and crusade against that.

        the point, otlset, is that it still very much takes place here in the US. more specifically, on this blog. I can point you to several articles on this blog in which the aforementioned unalienable rights we are “celebrating” today are prescribed to specific groups and not others.
        My comment wasnt a rally cry, I was merely choking on the hypocrisy of this post.
