You Don’t Need Arms for Hugging August 2, 2015

This heartwarming picture of an armless hug proves that you don’t even need limbs to give a good hug — just love.

Jessica Cox is the first pilot of her kind to be licensed. She was born without arms, but passed all her flying tests using her feet. She’s also a a public speaker, a third-degree black belt, and an advocate for people with disabilities.

RE (Ruth Evelyn) is a 3-year-old girl who was also born without arms. Her mother was determined to show her daughter that she can still live a full life. She drove 6 hours to bring her daughter to see Cox at the premiere of a documentary about her life, “Right Footed.”

Both mother and daughter got to spend some time with Jessica Cox, talk with her, and see her airplane. Cox was able to reassure them both that RE is going to be just fine — starting with that special moment of their hug.

What a remarkable woman! She didn’t let her disability hold her back from life. She used it to develop even more abilities than the average person has — and she’s using her platform to reach out to others who need to know that they can have just as rewarding a life as hers.
