How the Main-Stream Media Accidentally Made Pro-Life Arguments

How the Main-Stream Media Accidentally Made Pro-Life Arguments November 6, 2015

China announced this week that they are changing their one-child policy to allow families to have two children.  And the change got widespread coverage from the main-stream media, most of whom are unabashedly pro-abortion.

Yet their coverage almost sounded like they were pro-life.

The Washington Post for example told story after story of women being forced to have abortions and they wrote in a way which almost made it seem like they understood the value and dignity of the tiny lives that the Chinese government had so forcibly ripped from their mother’s wombs.

The Post wrote:

His wife was seven months pregnant with their second child when the group of people barged into his home and took her away. He followed them to the local hospital, where — against medical advice and despite his pleadings — they jammed a needle into her belly.

“They grabbed my wife’s body like they were grabbing a pig, four or five people holding her hands and legs and head, and injected a shot into her belly,” the man said, asking not to be named for fear of retribution. “Neither my wife nor I signed any consent form.”

Ten hours later, she gave birth to a boy, wriggling and faintly crying. But the doctors in southern Hunan province would not even let her hold the dying infant, the husband said, putting the baby in a plastic bag and instructing him to pay a cleaner a small sum to bury it on a nearby hill.

The incident happened not during the horrors of some Mao Zedong-inspired mania in the 1950s or 1960s, but in 2011, in the Internet age and when China was walking proudly on the global stage as a major power.

What has happened in China is absolutely horrific.  Abortion rates near 10 million babies a year?  It blows my mind!

But, what I don’t get is how someone can write about this horrific abortion in China, and not see that what happens in our country surrounding abortion is equally as evil and heart breaking.  Although the abortions are not at the direct hands of our government (though perhaps indirectly encouraged by them), any abortion ends a precious innocent life.

Now if the mainstream media could just give the same amount of respect to all unborn children who face the prospect of abortion that they have given to the children affected by the one child policy in China, we would be one step closer to ending the culture of death in our country as well.
