McDonald’s did EXACTLY what they should when an employee refused service to a police officer

McDonald’s did EXACTLY what they should when an employee refused service to a police officer August 4, 2016

There’s one less person in Brenham, Texas with a job and that’s a good thing!

That’s because a McDonald’s employee refused to serve a police officer and was promptly fired by the owners. Brenham Police Chief Craig Goodman posted about the incident on Facebook:

The Brenham Police Department continues to receive incredible support from our community and we are grateful for this wonderful partnership. Unfortunately, one of our employees, who was off duty with his family, was refused service at a local restaurant simply for being a Police Officer.

When the owners of the fast-food chain were notified of the slight, Goodman said they were “disheartened” and acted immediately. They also restated their “continued support of law enforcement.”

But Goodman knows this incident was the “exception rather than a rule” and acknowledged this McDonald’s as being “longtime supporters of the Brenham Police Department:”

We know this was an isolated incident that involved a single employee who is not fond of Law Enforcement. It is my hopes and prayers that this employee and anyone else who has a negative view of Law Enforcement address the real and/or perceived problem(s) through positive communication with us.

The actions of that one employee do not reflect the beliefs or opinions of management, the owners, or the McDonald’s company as a whole. We would like to thank the owners of McDonald’s for their continued support and for seeing that this issue has been resolved.

The local McDonald’s owner, Samuel Munroe, released the following statement:

At our restaurants, we proudly support police officers and all divisions of first responders. We are grateful for the chief of police, and the force, for understanding that this was an isolated incident. All customers, including local law enforcement officers who protect and serve our communities, are always welcome at our restaurants.

Chief Goodman believes the female employee may have acted the way she did because her son is currently locked up and facing some serious charges. But he hopes this whole ugly incident can serve as a lesson that all cops shouldn’t be judged by the actions of a few.

Well, I for one am glad this story turned out the way it did. Actions like this shouldn’t go unnoticed by the public. There should be consequences for blatant BS like this woman showed. It’s great she got fired and was held accountable for her actions. We all need to stand behind the people who protect us – from police to military personnel. (And this officer was a former Marine, by the way!)

Makes me want to get a McNugget Happy Meal and cheer the McDonalds company!
