A picture of a woman holding her baby on an airplane has gone viral thanks to the amazing story behind it.

During hour number four on a flight from Dubai to the Philippines, a mother gave birth to her baby at 32-weeks premature with the help of the flight crew and two nurses who happened to be passengers. The flight was diverted to India to ensure the health and safety of mother and baby.

A woman sitting nearby is responsible for taking the now-viral photo. She told ABC News:

“You could call it an uneventful flight, if you want to … but it wasn’t. It was such [a] heartening moment. Mothers don’t get as much credit as they do, and that mother who gave birth on a plane was truly a wonder[ful] woman.”

After she posted the picture to Facebook, the woman received thousands of shares:

“I was definitely surprised by the amount of shares, likes, and compliments I received from family, friends, and even strangers around the world. It was actually meant to be private, just for friends, really.”

“Witnessing that event has changed me in more ways than one. I wanted to be able to touch the lives of others by narrating a story of how a miracle came to be.”

The flight crew was excited to be a part of the story, too, with one of them saying, “Throughout my 11 years of flying, this is certainly the most special. Our team was calm and collected and did what they were trained to do to help.”

In a message directed at the mother, the crew member said, “We are blessed to have been an instrument in your safe delivery. You will always be my most memorable passenger.”

The airline showed its appreciation, giving the mother of a new baby girl one million “Get Go” points for Cebu Pacific Airlines. She can fly for free and they will never expire!

What a sweet story! The miracle of birth is an incredible sight to behold on land or in the sky!
