Blessing the Bread

Our two year old has a new tactic to prolong dinner time.  It is particularly effective.  He’ll pick up a roll or a large bite of food in both of his hands, whisper a few words over it, and then slowly raise it over his head.  Remind you of anything?  Perhaps a particular moment at Mass?

Blessing the bread

Once the bite/bread roll returns to his plate, I ask our son, “are you going to take a bite, Buddy?”

“No, no, Mommy,” he’ll reply, “that bite is for Jesus.”

He has me figured out!

Just when we thought they aren’t paying attention – it turns out they are “getting it”. My daughter likes to go behind the tables wherever we are, raise her hands and say, “The Lord be with you!” When she did that at an event in which our bishop was in attendance – he thought it was great and complimented us on our parenting. So kudos you and King B – keep up the good work.
