Magical Monday: Hot Chocolate With a Kick October 12, 2015

With the crisp, cool temperatures, I’ve found myself craving sweets (and sweaters) more and more, so this weekend, I whipped up a cup of hot chocolate with a bit of a magical kick. I thought I’d share my recipe with you today!

You will need:

  • Cocoa powder (Hershey’s is a staple in my kitchen, but any unsweetened powder will do)
  • Granulated sugar
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground turmeric
  • milk
  • a pot
  • a wooden spoon
  • your favorite mug

1. Bring the milk to a slow boil, stirring constantly.

2. Add one tablespoon sugar, one tablespoon cocoa, a pinch of turmeric, and a pinch of cinnamon.

3. Stir for 5 to 10 minutes over heat until blended and smooth.

4. Pour into your mug, let it cool, and enjoy.

 

Turmeric is a warming agent, perfect for adding to your comfort beverage on a cold winter weekend, and cinnamon is my go-to additive whenever I want a kitchen spell to have extra oomph. You can also charge the beverage as you stir, letting soothing thoughts spill into your concoction with the rhythmic motion of the spoon.
