Top 10 Best Netflix (+ Amazon Prime & HBO Now) Streamed in 2016

Top 10 Best Netflix (+ Amazon Prime & HBO Now) Streamed in 2016 December 29, 2016

This list is not necessarily my favorite new releases of the year. Instead, it is the best of the content I watched since this time last year. (We haven’t have cable in well over a decade, so I’m usually a season behind on most shows; however, waiting means no commercials!) In addition, this list is in alphabetical order because agonizing over a precise order would take out all the fun:

LastChanceU1. Better Call Saul (Season 1)

2. Bojack Horseman (Season 2)

3. The Crown (Season 1)

4. House of Cards (Season 4)

5. Last Chance U (Season 1)

6. Narcos (Season 2)

7. Orange is the New Black (Season 4)

8. Stranger Days (Season 1)

9. Supergirl (Season 1)

10. Walking Dead (Season 6)

Most of the above shows are widely familiar. But I will say in particular that regardless of whether you care of football, “Last Chance U” is an incredibly compelling six-episode documentary. It’s a real life Friday Night Lights.

Amazon Prime

Goliath1. Good Wife (Season 7, final season)

2. Suits (Season 5)

3. Mr. Robot (Season 1)

4. Goliath (Season 1)

Goliath is the one Amazon original series I watched and most appreciated this past year. I’ve been a fan of David E. Kelley’s dramas for a while, I love legal dramas in general, and Billy Bob Thornton is a standout as the star of this show.

HBO Now

SFU1. Game of Thrones (Season 6)

2. Girls (Season 5)

3. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (Season 3)

4. The Night Of (Season 1)

5. Six Feet Under (Seasons 1-5)

6. Westworld (Season 1)

Magin and I spent re-watched the entire run of Six Feet Under this past year. It holds up well, and I recommend revisiting it.
