Mystical Books on Amazon.com

Okay, so here’s the kind of thing I do when I have too much time on my hands. This morning I created a book list on Amazon.com, featuring my forthcoming book (yes, of course, this is all about marketing) but also 39 other, far more worthy titles on the subjects of Christian mysticism and contemplative spirituality (like the just-released Complete Mystical Works of Meister Eckhart, pictured to the right). If you are looking to fortify your library of books on this wonderful topic, then follow this link and have fun browsing.

Here’s your link to happy shopping: Mystical Christianity and Contemplative Spirituality Book List on Amazon.com (if you live in the USA, please do follow this particular link when you plan on purchasing; I get a modest commission on books sold through this link, which I then use to fortify my library).

And if you haven’t done so already, please pre-order a copy of The Big Book of Christian Mysticism — it makes my editor (not to mention me) happy to think that people will actually buy the book.

    Hi Carl,

I’ll take a look but I’m shopping from the UK, so will have to change over to the UK site before purchasing (I do have an account on the US site, but the postage is more expensive, so I only use it if I can’t get the book in the UK.)

    Happy New Year!

I certainly understand, I do the same thing in reverse. But I hope you’ll find the list useful just the same.

Thanks for the heads-up on the complete Meister Eckhart. I was excited to hear advance word about this over a year ago and now I’m excited all over again to know it’s finally out (though my wallet is not excited)! Great list, by the way.

    Hi Carl,

Thank you for this list. Coincidentally, I just bought Mysticism by Evelyn Underhill (before you posted the list).

I won’t be able to pre-order your book until later this month, but it’s next on my book hoard list.

    waiting for your latest carl
in the meantime that meister eckhart is the best on the list and i am just buying……..NOW

To Trish (and anyone else who might be hesitating): the good news about pre-ordering a book from Amazon is that they won’t actually charge your credit card until it ships (probably in July or August). So you can pre-order now and you won’t have to pay anything until next summer when the book is on its way to you. And they have the book pretty heavily discounted already, but if the price goes down between now and the ship date, you’ll pay the lower price.

by the way you need to include john cassian in your list. also abhishiktananda for trainee mystics is good

Amazon limited me to 40 books. There are a lot of wonderful folks who didn’t make the cut: Cassian, Benedict, Aelred, Abhishiktananda, Bede Griffiths, Karl Rahner, Adrienne Von Speyr, Matthew the Poor, Thomas Keating, William of St. Thierry, Thomas à Kempis, Catherine of Siena, Phoebe Palmer, John Wesley, George Fox, A. W. Tozer, Origen, Richard Rolle, Margery Kempe, Francis and Clare, … the list goes on and on…
