My new book!

You read that right. After nearly four years here at The Catholic Book Blogger promoting books every week, I now have one of my own. Before we talk about the book I thought you may be interested in how it developed.

A few months ago, I met an inspiring husband and wife from Europe named Nace and Silva Volcic. They had a good life. No financial worries. Plenty of food. A nice home. Reliable transportation. They also had something else. A feeling that something wasn’t right in the world. As the two assessed their life they quickly realized how badly others’ plight in life was. So they decided to do something about it, something that some might call radical.

They have begun a non-profit organization called the Operando Society. Their mission, to follow the path Jesus made before them, to bear witness to his good news and to sacrifice for the poor. They do so by traveling Europe and raising awareness and much needed funds, while living and working among the poor. There journey has taken them to Assisi, then to Terni, Stroncone (located in Umbria an Italian province). They have been in Rome where they had the pleasure of personally meeting Pope Francis when they were working at the Chicco Ark community in Rome. If you want to learn more about their mission visit their website and blog.

In our discussions for about a week Nace approached me with idea of writing a series of books focused on saints who have worked with the poor. 70% of the proceeds from the sales of these books will funnel directly to the organizations that Nace and Silva are working with. That brings me to the first book in the series.

The title of the book is Mother Teresa: Carrier of Mercy. It’s a short read and it’s more than simply a biography. It is packed with examples of how she dedicated her life in unfailing service to the poorest of the poor. She was an amazing example of mercy when the world needed it most. Not only did she exemplify the need to address physical pain and emptiness but also the spiritual pain that many face as well. Mother Teresa was the angel of the trash heap, the angel of the dying, the angel of the beggar, the angel of the neglected, and the angel of the unwanted.

I hope this book provides you with a source of inspiration for helping the physically and spiritually poor in “your own Calcutta” as Mother often said. Feel free to visit the link below to get your own Kindle copy. By doing so you will help support Operando and the mission of my friends, Nace and Silva.

If you enjoy the book please leave a review.
