Podcast #66: A Thanksgiving Debriefing

Rich and Ben celebrate Thanksgiving like everyone else: with family. And they like it that way. In today’s podcast, they discuss their Thanksgiving celebrations, whether it’s a good idea, how the holiday compares to other holidays, and of course they also discuss that day that follows: Black Friday.

Every week, Richard Clark and Ben Bartlett acknowledge and respond to the big issues in popular culture. We love feedback! Rich, I appreciate your perspective on Black Friday. A lot of Christians seem to relish and even glorify their disdain for things that are popular in culture, even though many of those things aren’t inherantly bad.
I think a Christian in the US needs to be very aware of the message he/she is sending to their non christian friends. If you aren’t careful, they might think that being a christian means that you have to hate black friday, twilight, harry potter, drinking alcohol(even in small quantities).
Not to say that you can’t be very wary of those things, I just think a lot of people need to take more time to explain a christian’s perspective, i.e. hate the materialism, not black friday.
