7 Good Bible Verses To Add To A Selfie

7 Good Bible Verses To Add To A Selfie June 24, 2016

Here are seven good Bible verses to use for your selfie.

Romans 8:37-39 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans chapter 8 may be the greatest anchor of security for the believer than any other chapter in the Bible. This chapter begins with there being no condemnation (Rom 8:1) and ends with no possible separation (Rom 8:38-39). In between it tells us that no one “shall bring any charge against God’s elect” (Rom 8:33). To make sure we understand, the Apostle Paul asks the rhetorical question, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ” (Rom 8:35), with the obvious answer being no one and no thing.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Even though this was written to the nation Israel, there is no reason to think that God doesn’t also have plans for you. We know He must if you’ve trusted in Christ. God’s plans are not meant to harm you but to give you a future filled with hope. A future with God is reward in itself but even today we can know that for those who love God and have been called by God, everything that happens is for our very best (Rom 8:28).

Ephesians 1:4 “Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love.”

What was God’s motivation for saving us? It was love, no doubt, as Jesus said that God loved the world so much He was willing to let His one and only Son die (John 3:16). This was a choice that God made before the earth existed, but there was also another choice. You! Yes, God chose you if you’ve been brought to repentance and faith in Christ. That choice was made before you existed and even before the foundation of the world. The goal was that we would be seen as holy and blameless before God, but only because of Christ (2nd Cor 5:21).

If-possible-so-far-as-it

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Here is one of the strangest commands in the entire Bible. God is basically telling Joshua, “Don’t be afraid.” God puts it in an imperative command form so Joshua can’t opt out of that command. He is told to be strong and courageous and not be dismayed and God tells him exactly why; “the Lord your God is with you whether you go.” To know that God’s with you very step of the way, should act to encourage you.

Romans 8:31 “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Imagine your choosing sides. You want to be on the side that’s more likely to win, right? Of course you would, and for the children of God, He is for them and He is with them. Since God is now for us, who or what of significance could ever be against us? Pea shooters is all they got if God’s for you. Nobody can lay any more charge against you because of what Christ has done and our faith being placed in Him and now, there is no more condemnation (Rom 8:1) and that means they are now at peace with God (Rom 5:1).

Ephesians 2:20 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

The best thing about Christianity is it “by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph 2:8-9), but it doesn’t stop there. Even though we’re not saved by works, we’re actually saved for works which God has sovereignly placed before us in this life, however we must make the choice to “walk in them.” God leaves these choices up to us but He has prepared them ahead of time for us to do. The question for us is, well we do them?

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

The context of this verse is actually not abounding in things but Paul’s being in depravity but still learning how to be content with it. Paul had been beaten, stoned, flogged, imprisoned and said “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need” (Phil 4:12) and what was that secrete? He knew that he could endure this (do all things) if Christ strengthened him.

Conclusion

I hope these Bible verses have been encouraging to you. There is real power in God’s Word (Rom 1:16; 1 Cor 1:18), so it’s in our best interest to tap this power of the Word and to be in the Word so the Word will be us. God has a purpose for your life and part of that purpose is to share God’s love with others in witnessing with the express hope that they might repent and be saved.
