7 Popular Bible Verses To Put On A Coffee Mug

7 Popular Bible Verses To Put On A Coffee Mug June 24, 2016

Here are seven Bible verses that would be great for your coffee mug.

Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

One thing we know about God’s love is that it’s steadfast. It’s not going anywhere. For most parents, there isn’t anything that their children could ever do that would stop their parents from loving them. The closest thing we may have is a mother’s love as she always holds out hope for their child, regardless of where they are at today. That type of love produces a mercy that never ends and every morning, there’s new mercy for the day. That is why Solomon said to God “great is your faithfulness.”

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Once again, this reminds me of a parent, but this time a parent who is trying to calm a crying child down. Sometimes that seems impossible, until they either cry themselves to sleep or forgot what they were crying about. The psalmist says to the children of God, “Quite! Remember, you know who I am…I am God.” Being still is a matter of trust but the more you know of God’s steadfast love, the more you’ll rest, and the more you rest, the more likely you’ll “Be still.”

First Corinthians 16:13 “Let all that you do be done in love.”

If love is not the motivation for acts of service, love, kindness, or generosity, then it’s nothing more than noise (1st Cor 13:1). Here’s what’s it looks like to “be done in love;” “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth” (1st Cor 13:4-6) because “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1st Cor 13:7)

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

If we were backpacking in the mountains and following a guide, we wouldn’t lean on the understanding we had in camping in the mountains because many of us never have. The only experience some of us may have is from scouting, but that hardly makes us qualified to lead a group into the wilderness. Most of the party is leaning on the guide’s advice because they trust him. As with God, putting your trust in Him means you lean on Him for your understanding and not on your own but also, by acknowledging Him in all things, we give God the glory that He deserves. That’s going to make life’s path considerably straighter. If we are “not wise in [our] own eyes…it will be healing to [our] flesh and refreshment to [our] bones” (Prov 3:7-8).

The-steadfast-love-of

Nehemiah 8:10 “the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Shortly after the walls of Jerusalem had been rebuilt, there was a public reading of the “Book of the Law” which was a sort of dedication to the newly rebuilt city of Jerusalem (Neh 8:1). After this, Ezra and the Levites cried out, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law” (Neh 8:9) and continuing to encourage them, shouted, “this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh 8:10). There is strength in joy because joy comes from knowing.

Psalm 46:5 “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.”

I wished all of Psalm 46 would fit on a coffee mug because it’s all so very encouraging. When morning dawns, this short 11 verse chapter will start your day off in a very positive way because you can say, “The Lord of hosts is with us” (Psalm 46:7) or with you. He is always with you anyway (Heb 13:5) and since the Lord is with you, you can also say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me” (Heb 13:6)? Perfect love is supposed to cast out all fear (1st John 4:18).

Hebrews 6:10 “For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.”

Mornings are made more difficult because we may have a long day ahead of us. Monday mornings in particular is especially hard, but think about this; God is not overlooking what you are doing in serving the church but also, your job is a holy vocation and your job is much more than just for your employer. The Apostle Paul wrote; “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ” (Col 3:23-24). You might get paid by man but your rewards are from God.

Conclusion

If you have time for coffee in the morning, then you have time to read a few Bible verses in the morning. There are so many audio books of the Bible that you can download free, you can actually take them anywhere you can take a wireless device, including your car. In this way you can hide God’s Word in your heart and know that He is with you and in you, and will never leave you or forsake you.
