11 Motivational Bible Verses June 27, 2016

Here are 11 motivational Bible verses that you can take to heart.

Colossians 2:23-24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

When you face another Monday morning, remember that it’s not really your employer whom you work for but God Himself and it is God Who will reward His children at Jesus’ return or after their death, so don’t lose heart. God is watching and we know that “God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do” (Heb 6:10).

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What is it that can separate us from God once we have trusted in Christ? In short, nothing! Not any height, nor depth, nor power on earth or (fallen) angels or demons and in fact, nothing on earth, and to make sure Paul covers it all, there isn’t anything that’s ever been created that can separate us from God. What can separate us from God’s love? Nothing!

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

The context of Philippians chapter 4 isn’t that we can do anything we want but to suffer afflictions, deprivations, persecutions, and still be able to endure because it is Christ Who will strengthen us. It is not by our own resolve but by Christ Himself.

But-Jesus-looked-at-them

Matthew 19:26 “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

This verse is in the context of Jesus just saying, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God” (Matt 19:23-24) and “When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved” (Matt 19:25) so even the rich may enter the kingdom but only if they trust in Christ more than their riches.

Philippians 1:6 “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

So many Christians go through seasons of doubt but the Apostle Paul gives those who have doubts reason to rejoice because what God began in them, He will finish. A person is saved by faith alone in Christ alone and whoever believes in Him will be saved (John 3:16). It doesn’t’ say, “Whoever believes in Him will be saved…unless they blow it.” God will complete what He starts in the children of God.

Romans 12:11 “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.”

When we are zealous for the work of God we can serve God more abundantly. In the Great Commission (Matt 28:19-20), Jesus said to “go into all the world.” A slothful person could care less about going because their evangelistic ideas might be, “Wait till they come to me,” but since the lost aren’t coming to church, the church should be going to the lost.

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Once more we need to see the context of this chapter, which we mentioned earlier, and it’s not saying that whatever you want, God will provide but rather, He will “supply every need of yours,” but not every greed of yours, contrary to those who preach the false gospel of wealth, health, and prosperity.

Psalm 27:4 “One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after.”

The psalmist focused on one thing; to seek after the Lord. That’s all he asked. He didn’t ask for riches, wealth or power but to seek the Lord and His righteousness (Matt 6:33). That’s what God would have us seek because everything else is passing away.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Whatever happens today or whatever happened yesterday and those things yet to happen, we can rest in the knowledge that whatever happens, it’s all going to work out for our good because we are called according to God’s purposes and He can even use evil for good (Gen 50:20; John 3:16).

Luke 15:7 “Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”

We are so overjoyed when someone puts their trust in Christ because the wrath of God has been removed by their believing in Christ (John 3:36a) and that brings joy to those who know them, but more so, there is true joy in heaven when even one sinner is saved.

Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

We are running the race of life today and we may not even be able to see the finish line yet, but the fact is we are looking at our pacesetter and that is Jesus Christ so we must keep our eyes fixed on Him. He is the founder and perfecter of our faith, and knowing that, we should be able to better endure this race that’s set before us, looking to the glory that’s coming that can’t even compare with today’s sorrows (Rom 8:18).

Conclusion

The Word of God has real power (Isaiah 55:11) so we need to be abiding in the Word daily (John 15:1-5) because it can truly be a motivation for you today and every day. Take advantage of the Bible by getting into the Word and the Word will get into you and you’ll never be the same again.
