7 Bible Verses For The Pregnant Mother

7 Bible Verses For The Pregnant Mother September 24, 2016

Here are seven great Bible verse for mothers who are expecting.

Psalm 139:13-14a “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

If you’re a pregnant mother and a believer, you probably know that children are a gift from God, as the psalmist wrote, “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward” (Psalm 127:3), so we might think we’re planning a pregnancy, but when you look at it, all good things come from God and there is nothing that we have that we did not receive from God (1 Cor 4:4), so praise Him, thank Him, and give Him the glory for your child.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

This verse about Jeremiah, spoken by the Lord Himself, is similar to that of the one given to Isaiah the Prophet, where God said “Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name” (Isaiah 49:1). Did you know that God has planned your adoption into His family before the earth existed? That’s exactly what the Word of God says (Eph 1).

Luke 1:41-142 “And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”

Here is concrete evidence that abortion is murder. The Greek word used for “baby” is “brephos,” which is the same word used for “child, infant,” and “young child,” so even while still in the mother’s womb, God considers the unborn as a child and is referred to as a person, not a mass of tissue (as some abortions call it).

Genesis 25:24 “When her days to give birth were completed, behold, there were twins in her womb.”

There is also a striking similarity in this verse to that found in 1st Samuel 1:20 where it says “And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord.” This is all from the Lord and not from us. God alone is the giver of life and He is the one Who grants children to us. All good things come from the Lord (1 Cor 4:4), and what is better than a human life given to a mother and a father? Doctors can give mothers a due date, but it actually God who determines the day of our birth.

Ecclesiastes 3:2 There is “a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted.”

I have heard more than one person say, “I was an accident” or “I was unplanned,” but that’s a human perspective and not actually true, because, as we have read, God determines the day of your birth, just as He does the day of your death, therefore, there are no accidents. God is sovereign over everything and nothing happens by mistake or without purpose, and that includes you and your child if you’re a pregnant mother. You and your child have a purpose, predetermined by God (Eph 2:10). That’s not my opinion…but what the Word of God says.

Galatians 1:15-16 “But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone.”

The Apostle Paul understood that it is God Who calls and qualifies a man to be a church leader, and as such, he wanted the church at Ephesus to understand that God “chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved” (Eph 1:4-5), so we never choose Him, He choose us, as Jesus told His disciples, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you” (John 15:16). How incredible is our God!

Psalm 139:15-16 “My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me when as yet there was none of them.”

There is such an amazing miracle that takes place in a mother’s womb. God is intricately weaving and forming a human being, even before it’s visible to the naked eye. Just because someone is not yet fully formed doesn’t mean that they are not alive. Evidence proves that unborn babies feel pain, sense a mother’s movement, and respond to her voice. This, by definition, is life, therefore I plead with all who are considering having an abortion; choose life, just as God chose to give you and me life.

Conclusion

Psalm 139 is one of the most amazing chapters in the Bible about the development of human life. The psalmist regards an unborn child as a person, even before birth, and even while their being formed. Just because a child is not yet born does not mean they aren’t a person, but sadly, what used to be the safest place on earth (a mother’s womb), is now one of the most dangerous, and that’s because of the abortion rates in this country and around the world, are incredibly high. Thankfully, most Christian women regard the life of their child as that; a human being. Born or not, it’s still a person (Luke 1:41-42).
