After the tragic death of one of the occupiers at the nature preserve in Burns, Oregon and the arrest of several others, this interview I did with Oregon Public Broadcasting/National Public Radio’s John Sepulvado is particularly prescient. As he states in this interview, there seemed to be no way the Malheur Preserve occupation wouldn’t end in violence (now the car), but is this what the Bundy family and others have wanted all along? what’s more, is it part of an religiously-fueled prophetic vision they have for themselves?

We’re minus Slim this week, so it’s just Amy and Christian holding it down. We break down our impression of the occupation, then follow up with the Sepulvado interview, as he’s been one of the primary reporters covering the situation since it first unfolded about am month ago.

We also get into why it is that some people can’t wait to get to the end of a story or a football game to find out what happens, while others like to savor the journey and dwell in the unknown more. And what’s really interesting is when someone obsessed with end results and resolution also embraces postmodern theology (yeah, Amy looking’ at you Amy).

Finally, we get into why Amy got busted for using the word “Crazy” on a previous show and why she feels justified in using it. Can some groups lay claim to certain words while others have to avoid them completely? Who gets to decide?
