Why Young Adults Leave Church: The Interview

I was interviewed recently on the Open House radio show, a weekly program with Leigh Hatcher that syndicates across Australia, about my articles on why young adults leave church.

Sex, Babies, Music, Gas and Politics: My Chat with Carol Howard Merritt

Author, speaker, pastor and God Complex Radio show host Carol Howard Merritt invited me on her show to talk about my new memoir coming out April 1 called PregMANcy: A Dad, A Little Dude and A Due Date. It’s a highly irreverent, humorous memoir about my wife’s second pregnancy and my efforts both to deal with that new reality and how to manage being a decent father to my remarkably challenging son, Mattias.

In the show, we cover a range of topics, including childbirth, gestational gas, sex, why Christian music mostly sucks, and church-state separation. Curious how that all fits together into one conversation? Guess you’ll have to listen.

A Talk with “BLUE LIKE JAZZ” Film Director Steve Taylor

While I was at Soularize in San Diego, Amy and I had the chance to sit down with the guys from the Homebrewed Christianity podcast, as well as Phil Shepherd (AKA The Whiskey Preacher) and Burnside Writers Collective’s Jordan Green to chat with Steve Taylor, renowned musician and director of the film version of Donald Miller’s bestselling book, BLUE LIKE JAZZ.

Man, that was a mouthful.

We sat down with a couple of beers, huddled around a microphone and talked about the rough cut of the movie we had just seen, along with other matters of faith, music, pop culture and other tangents that popped up along the way.

Fortunately, Tripp Fuller and Bo Sanders of Homebrewed Christianity cobbled together a fascinating podcast from our nonsense. The byproduct is here, hot, fresh and ready to invade your ear-holes:
