My contest for this week is the book “Gypsy Magic: A Romany Book of Spells, Charms, and Fortune Telling” by Patrinella Cooper (162 pages).
This is a great book that explains the history of the Romany tradition, explains the differences between it and witchcraft and Wicca, and gives information on fortune telling through dreams, tea leaves, palmistry, the tarot and crystal balls. It also has information on symbols, natural omens, weather lore, healing herbs and natural remedies. There are sections on charms for luck, spells, protection against curses and much more.
Gypsy Magic is a book for anyone exploring different forms of magical religions or traditions. The sections on fortune telling are surprisingly comprehensive for a book of this size.
To win, just leave a comment to this post. A random winner will be picked on July 24!
Good luck to everyone!

I think that would be an interesting read..go along with my collection of magic, and witchcraft books..
Woohoo! I come from Latvian gypsies and I don’t think I have ever read any book on the subject, count me in.
Thanks for your generosity!
i will reply to your comment AND enter the contest all in one fell swoop– that book sounds wonderful!!! (: thanks for your enthusiasm and the reminder about the blessings of having the space to garden (though my friend’s garden really takes the cake, doesn’t it?… my own is not deer fenced due to lack of funds and manpower, so I just grow what they don’t eat, and it is somewhat indistinguishable from a patch of weeds!– but that’s okay)we lived in the city/burbs of the SF Bay Area our whole lives, we are three years new to the country, and sometimes i forget how we used to be cramped into a 300 square foot studio, a tiny yard, and deal with traffic and violence and lack of community… mostly i forget this when there is a great music show in SF that I want to see, but can’t run down there mid-week to do it!!! but overall it has been a change for the good. i encourage you to try the same, one day, if you can manage it… we rent, so we didn’t have to deal with selling a house, but we had to take entry level jobs at low rural area pay, and though we’re broke it’s worth it… and as i learn more Country Living skills we get LESS broke! (:
oh sacred susie should get it..
Enter me into the drawing. You are too nice to give books away/crap to others who might like them!

Oooooh I’m in! This book looks very interesting.
I would love to know more about fortune telling and this book seems like it would work perfectly. I like your idea to give away books you no longer use (I’m all for recycling!!!)and who better to give them to then people who could use them. Thanks for the opportunity to gain wisdom through the written word.
I just found your blog and would love to enter the givaway! Thanks for being so generous. Sounds like a fun book!
