Friday Update…
Well, yesterday I got a start on the canning and putting up food. I got 2 dozen ears of corn blanched, cut off the cob and packed into Food Saver bags for the freezer ( I got about 7 (2 cup) packages frozen). I will probably do this one more time before summer is over. It's a bit of work, but it'll be worth it when we are eating frozen corn this winter that actually tastes like corn! If you want to try this yourself, there are excellent and detailed instructions on pickyourown.org, the best … [Read more...]

Busy today!
Hit the farm market yesterday and picked up a ton of stuff. Between that and the things ready in my garden, I'm going to be putting up a ton of food today! On my list: canned pickled jalepeno relish, canned tomatilla salsa, frozen corn on the cob, frozen poblano pepper slices, thyme honey, and a crap load of basil pesto for the freezer. When I got to the farm stand (which is 50 feet from the farm!) they were just carrying in the batch of tomatillas in a bucket, freshly picked! You can't get … [Read more...]
Guess what we’ve got??
Yup, that's right! We've got a monarch caterpillar hanging out in our milkweed!! We planted these from free seeds from the Live Monarch site at the beginning of the summer. I didn't know if anything would come of it. We did get some really pretty plants, but not much else. But today, when I went out to water the garden, there he was! I really hope the birds leave him alone and he curls up to make a cocoon. I have a special net tucked away to set over it to protect it once he's curled up. … [Read more...]

Witch Crafts…Magical Spoons and Pagan Style Dream Catchers
While out and about on other people's blogs, I've seen some amazing works of art and beautiful crafts that they've created. This will not be one of those posts. I'm fond of saying that I have "two left thumbs" when it comes to crafts and art work. Of course, I can't seen a correct note to save my life and it doesn't stop me from singing along at the top of my lungs. And not being talented doesn't stop me from enjoying doing crafts! One of my latest endeavors is making magical symbols on wooden … [Read more...]
Kitchen Witchery
A while back I showed you some of the witchy stuff in my bedroom, so I thought I'd share another spot in my house - my kitchen window sill. It's where I keep my best kitchen witchy things. I have quite a few kitchen witches. Some have feathery brooms.... Some are riding spoons... And some are peaking out from the produce. I also have a few little witches hanging about: These two are hanging out with a pinch pot that my oldest son made years … [Read more...]

Sunday Update
Hi everybody, back from the wedding! It was just fabulous! You could not have asked for a more gorgeous setting for a wedding. The groom owns a log cabin in the mountains, surrounded by woods and with a pond and creek running through it. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! The wedding was held outside in a clearing, in an awesome gazebo that my husband, his brother the groom and his brother made completely from scratch. The ceremony included a hand fasting, a Celtic … [Read more...]
