Back to work and school today after a 3 day weekend! It was a glorious weekend full of fun with the family! We went to the fair, grilled burgers and hot dogs, watched a ton of lame horror movies, played some Wii, got some yard work done, and painted a wall in the living room. The perfect balance of lazy days mixed with enough “I got something done” to not feel too guilty about it, lol!!
Only 15 more days of school left! Can’t wait! On the down side, my 7th grader is smack in the midst of a research paper. I’m not sure what the point of giving kids a paper to write this close to the end of the year is. Blech! We are talking full on, detailed bibliography, turn in your index cards, graded rough draft and all. If you are reading this, and would like an extra entry to the current giveaway, post the word “summer” on the giveaway post. Believe me, I don’t mind putting time in on a research paper, but trying to get J. to sit down and concentrate this close to the end of the year, when the weather is gorgeous out is like pulling teeth. Out of an alligator.
In other news, well, there’s not too much going on! Trying to finish off reading a few books for review as well as researching my own. Got a bunch of things brewing in the art/alchemy room, lol! And made the most delicious peanut butter pie yesterday (recipe to come!).
Hope all your Tuesdays are off to a great start!!

Good luck to your babe (Um, excuse me, that's young person. My niece told me I needed to stop calling people's kids 'babe's. She's 6). So good luck to your young person with that paper. I feel the same way about giving that kind of work at the end of year; most kids are tired of school by then and not in the research state of mind.Good readings to you
Looking forward to this recipe!I'm happy yuo had such great time with your family having fun! I can't wait to see the sun again here! There's a word in Portuguese for this research stuff on sunny days: sacanagem! No one deserve that, I comiserate…Kisses and love from us.
I met a gal who goes to one of the private schools here (Delphian) & she's in the midst of her last project in Sr year – 72 hours of 'world religions' – in 2 weeks! Yikes!! What the @#$%?? seemed fine with it . . Hope the project you guys are working on goes well. Tuesday/Monday indeed! Tho I did work a bit yesterday, was going to be in town anwyay, so didn't change my Mon gal's appt ,Here's to a lovely summer!
Sorry about the research paper. I remember having to do those before the end of the year, and I confess, I assigned the same project you are describing to my juniors at my first teaching job. They hated me.
Man, 15 more days?! My boy only has 2 1/2 days… I can't wait! I hate to wake him up in the morning! He is such a grump! Anyway, gald you had a good weekend!
