Who is worse?

Who is worse? September 29, 2016

Who is worse, the one who says horrible things or the one who allows those horrible things to be said when convenient?

Donald Trump says terrible things about women.  I’m glad I don’t have a daughter this year.  Hillary Clinton, at best, stood by while defenders of her husband said terrible things about women.  The legendary ‘nuts and sluts’ strategy of Bill’s defenders.  Whether Hillary was part of it or not depends on who you believe.  But unless she came out at some point and publicly condemned the sexist attacks made against Bill’s accusers, including the famous ‘trailer park trash‘ insult made by the close Clinton confidant James Carville, then she has enabled it, at least by the same standard that Trump is said to enable the worst of his followers by not condemning them.

The same with race.  Trump says things that are offensive to minorities.  I might have missed it, but I’m unaware of Hillary’s public rebuke of her campaign for floating the Birther issue in 2008, or her own husband for injecting race into the 2008 primary contest in the South (a ‘southern strategy’ perhaps?).

All of this assumes, again, that the accusations of Hillary being behind the vile things said about Bill’s accusers are false.  If she wasn’t, and she has condemned these specific things, then she’s off the hook.  As far as I know, she’s said nothing near the level of Trump.  If not, however, then we’re back to the original question:  Who is worse, the one who says horrible things, or the one who allows those horrible things to be said when convenient?
