Why I like living in the United States

Why I like living in the United States December 9, 2016

Because I don’t have to worry about being charged by the government for saying things that the government does not like.  A nice reminder that loose on sex and drugs and freedom aren’t always the same thing.

For my part, I don’t care for what he said, or the reactions he elicited.  But as one who has heard similar chants here at home, aimed at everyone from Muslim immigrants to white Christians, I have to say I’m still glad folks have the right to say it.

I may disagree with people who want fewer Muslim immigrants or who want the last shards of Anglo American, Christian society to be eradicated, but I’ll fight to the death their right to say it.

I get the danger of course.  I don’t want laws passed aimed at Muslims, or Christians, or Atheists, or anyone else.  That’s where checks and balances come in.  That’s why ‘pens and phones’ is not the best approach for getting things done.

Nonetheless, as of now, we have the right to speak freely our opinions.  And in this day and age, that’s not bad.
