Pope Francis and populism

Pope Francis and populism March 22, 2017

When populism is good and when it’s bad.  The gist, according to Samuel Gregg at The Federalist, is that populism is good when Pope Francis does it, bad when others do it.  Who those others are is anyone’s guess, but there are theories floating about.

This is a bit like Pope Francis being the pope who asks who he is to judge.  Apparently he’s Pope Francis, and he does a splendid job judging things and people.  Sometimes he can out-judge a fundamentalist KJV-only tent preaching Baptist evangelist.  He just doesn’t judge certain things.

So seems to be at least a couple cases where Pope Francis says X is thus or Y is bad, only to act in ways that must make you wonder.
