Something to mark on your calendars:
Alan C. Ashton will deliver the 2012 Neal A. Maxwell Lecture on the evening of Thursday, 12 April 2012, in the Gordon B. Hinckley Center at Brigham Young University. I don’t have the precise time for it yet, but it will presumably be at roughly 7:00 PM.
The title of his remarks will be “Oh How Surely Christ Sanctifies His Own.”
Alan C. Ashton received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at the University of Utah and was a professor of Computer Science at Brigham Young University until he left the university to pursue private business interests. He was Co-founder of WordPerfect Corporation and of Thanksgiving Point. He served as the president of the BYU 14th Stake and then as president of the Canada Toronto West Mission from 2004 to 2007. He currently presides as bishop over the Provo Utah YSA 158th Ward.
In addition to his Church service, he enjoys playing tennis, reading, playing chess, and interacting with his family. He is married to Karen Ashton, who founded the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, served on the Primary General Board, and was his missionary companion in the Canada Toronto West Mission. She currently serves on the Young Women’s General Board. Brother and Sister Ashton have eleven children, all married in the temple, and fifty-one grandchildren.
