Frank Moore Cross, Jr., RIP

A sealing room in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Frank Moore Cross died last week at age 91.  He was noted among scholars for his work on the Dead Sea Scrolls, the relationship between Canaanite mythology and Hebrew thought, and Northwest Semitic epigraphy, but Latter-day Saints will be most familiar with him from the little three-minute video Why Mormons Build Temples, in which he appeared with his long-time Harvard colleague Krister Stendahl, a famous New Testament scholar who died in 2008.

Why Mormons Build Temples is very much worth a look, even if you’ve already seen it before.

Thanks for posting. I had not heard this news.

Now he will know the Truth as Stendahl has learned it. Isn’t that a wonderful thing to understand?
