Fun in Washington DC in November

Ray or Reyy doesn’t even show up on this map.
But Tehran does.

Here’s a link to the flyer for the conference on the Middle East at which I’ll be speaking in Washington DC somewhere on 21-23 November.  I finished my first complete draft of the paper just a few minutes ago.  (The conference organizers require a copy well in advance, which, although easy to resent, is actually pretty good:  This time, at least, I won’t be struggling to finish my paper in the wee hours of the night just before leaving for the airport.)

I’ll be speaking about the Critique of Christian Origins, a text written by the Qadi ‘Abd al-Jabbar, who lived in Rey or Rayy, in Iran, during the late tenth century of the Christian era.  (The city, once quite important in its own right, is now a suburb of Tehran.)
