“Where Shall Wisdom Be Found?”

A representation of the divine feminine

This week’s publication in Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture comes from Zina Petersen:

It deals with a subject that has fascinated me for a long time (see here, for example, or the considerably abbreviated version of the same article¬†here; and compare this, which was published in the late FARMS Review under my editorship). ¬†To paraphrase Goethe, “Das ewig Weibliche zieht mich heran.”

And, obviously, the same subject is going to be a central focus of the upcoming Academy for Temple Studies conference in Logan, Utah, on “The Lady of the Temple: Examining the Divine Feminine in the Judeo-Christian Tradition.”

It is so neat that they can get Margaret Barker to come again. Her little book, “Temple Theology” is one of my favorites all time books.
I do have lingering doubts about Asherah and her possible idol status.
