“Where Shall Wisdom Be Found?”

A representation of the divine feminine

This week’s publication in Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture comes from Zina Petersen:

It deals with a subject that has fascinated me for a long time (see here, for example, or the considerably abbreviated version of the same article here; and compare this, which was published in the late FARMS Review under my editorship).  To paraphrase Goethe, “Das ewig Weibliche zieht mich heran.”

And, obviously, the same subject is going to be a central focus of the upcoming Academy for Temple Studies conference in Logan, Utah, on “The Lady of the Temple: Examining the Divine Feminine in the Judeo-Christian Tradition.”

It is so neat that they can get Margaret Barker to come again. Her little book, “Temple Theology” is one of my favorites all time books.
I do have lingering doubts about Asherah and her possible idol status.
