Another publication from BYU’s Middle Eastern Texts Initiative

I’m pleased to see that the Middle Eastern Texts Initiative (METI), an undertaking at Brigham Young University that I conceived and founded and with which I was centrally involved until I was obliged to leave it in 2013, has published yet another volume.

Just out is Hunayn ibn Ishaq on His Galen Translations, a parallel English-Arabic text edited and translated by John C. Lamoreaux, of Southern Methodist University.

Hunayn b. Ishaq (d. 873 AD) was the most celebrated and prolific classical translator of Greek philosophical and scientific works into Arabic, among them the writings of the illustrious Greco-Roman physician, surgeon, and philosopher Galen (d. ca. AD 200).

With this latest volume, METI has now published twenty-eight (28) titles.

I take considerable satisfaction in that.

And more volumes, it appears, will be published relatively soon.
