A request to any readers in or around upper New York or in Europe March 24, 2017

Paris at night, from high up somewhere
Formerly a great and beautiful city, Paris has now, I’m told by one American commenter, become a “third-world hell-hole.”  (Wikimedia Commons public domain image)

Two quite unrelated requests:

1.

If you live in the vicinity of Manchester/Palmyra, New York, or within a reasonable distance of that location, could you let me know whether there are leaves on the trees in your area?  I’m specifically interested in whether any leaves are visible this coming Sunday.

2.

That was an easy question.  This one’s a bit more ambitious:

If you live in Scandinavia (particularly Sweden, I guess), or Germany, or France, or Switzerland, or the United Kingdom, or, really, anywhere in Western Europe, could you possibly drop me a few lines about the conditions there?  Specifically, some are pointing to your area as a warning to Americans about what is soon to happen here in the United States.  Europe, they say, has become a place of terror, where women can’t go out into the streets (especially but not only at night) for fear of assault and rape, where whole sections of major cities constitute “no-go zones,” from which police and ordinary native citizens are effectively barred, that shari‘a law has been imposed in many areas, and so forth.

I visit the UK and Europe fairly frequently — I’ll be there on at least two separate trips before the end of the summer — and, frankly, I just haven’t seen the horrors there that I’m being told about.  But I would love to hear from people actually living in the region right now.

Thanks!
