The story is told in early Muslim sources of an old woman in Mecca, during the first years of Muhammad’s prophetic ministry, who made a habit of throwing trash in his way whenever he passed by her house.

One day, when he walked out of his home there was no garbage.  This made Muhammad inquire about the old woman, and he soon learned that she was sick.  The Prophet went to visit her and to offer her any help that she might need.  Seeing his genuine concern for her, the old woman was deeply humbled and, at the same time, ashamed of the way that she had treated him.  She is said to have accepted Islam on the spot.
